BJPsych Open is an exciting new open access online journal for the publication of all methodologically sound research in psychiatry and disciplines related to mental health. BJPsych Open will maintain the highest scientific, peer-review, and ethical standards of the BJPsych and other Royal College of Psychiatrists’ publications. The journal will ensure rapid peer-review and publication – our target is 28 days from acceptance to online publication – with work made freely available under creative commons licences. This maximises dissemination and sharing of research with no cost to the reader in the spirit of optimising public engagement.
Published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK, BJPsych Open invites submissions from the research, practice and policy communities. BJPsych Open provides a more flexible journal format, free from the page limits and constraints of paper-based publications, and the possibility of publishing research protocols for commissioned research; a variety of review types including narrative, systematic and realist reviews; as well as policy and analysis of topical practice and research findings. In due course, BJPsych Open will publish themed issues to enable more specialist areas of practice and research from all around the world to be shared across research communities worldwide. We will consider fresh submissions as well as papers that are cascaded from our sister journals. BJPsych Open enhances the service the BJPsych brand provides to our authors, enabled by our international board of senior editors.
Publication fee is currently £1250 (plus VAT where applicable). We may be able to offer discounts in certain circumstances, but applications are considered on a case-by-case basis - please enquire with BJPsych Open staff whether you may be able to qualify.
